Field work started in Romania

The Romanian partner started the work with new team in the project Find Your Way to the World of Work. The mentors started working in pairs in three cities: Tîrgu-Mureș (Marosvásárhely), Odorheiu Secuiesc (Székelyudvarhely) and Gheorgheni (Gyergyószentmiklós), their work running on multiple platforms.

To successfully start the cooperation with local communities, the team in Tîrgu-Mureș (Marosvásárhely) invited the colleagues of two NGOs (Lazarenum Foundation and Lidia Children’s Home) to attend a methodology presentation and a team-building. The team met on the territory of the Bethlen Gábor castle in Criș, Mureș county (Keresd, Maros megye), on the 30th of April.

The Bethlen Gábor castle was rented in 2014 by the Saint Francis Foundation of Deva (Dévai Szent Ferenc Alapítvány), the aim being to create an educational and training center where disadvantaged youth can learn a profession and work in the field.

Familiarizing with the history of the castle helped the participants to realize that one of the initial steps in working with young people at the start of their career is to develop their identity, criterion being to learn their life story.

Professionals and educators working in the social field got insight and realized that we can achieve good results with children raised in a children’s home using individual education, giving individual care, highlighting and understanding the individual’s values and situation.

After presenting the method of life story work, we continued the day with practices and games that strengthen the team’s cohesion, and closed with a grilling.

As a feedback, the participants thanked us for the place as well as the atmosphere, the conversation and the new information.
